PHLPOST LAUNCHES CALUNGSOD STAMP

The Philippine Postal Corporation launched stamp in honor of Blessed Pedro Calungsod last October 21 held at the historic EDSA Shrine.

Blessed Pedro Calungsod-the second Filipino Saint.

Blessed Pedro Calungsod was a 17-year old Roman Catholic Filipino martyr who was killed while doing missionary work in the Marianas Island in Guam in 1672. He was beatified on March 5, 2000, by Pope John Paul II.
The single stamp design illustrates Blessed Pedro holding a Palm leaf on his left hand and his right hand at the chest signifying his deep Roman Catholic faith. On the right side is the missionary route to the Marianas Island.
